Winter Retreat!

We're fresh off of another successful Winter Camp/Retreat! We got a chance to get all the hundreds of students across all of our campuses together for a long weekend of worship, teaching, games and camp food!

This year our theme at camp was over 1 John. Light and life from 1 John. It was a great opportunity to encourage and challenge us all with our relationship with God and each other before going out onto the campus for the spring.

We're using the gospel of Luke as a springboard for our sermon series in Denton this semester. Each week we will focus on a story or parable from the gospel of Luke and teach through the ideas within it. So far we've only met one time but it was a super energizing service. I think everyone was still excited coming back from camp which was awesome, the room was packed and worship was beautiful.

We're in the process now of figuring out who we are going to be taking up to SICM in May for our annual leadership conference. Please join us in praying for that.

There's so much going on right now that I am incredibly thankful for. This has been some of the more challenging weeks in my life recently, with some health issues persisting, but nevertheless I have had ample opportunity to reflect on how good God is in the midst of that. We have been overwhelmingly blessed with a community that has come around us and been present and supporting. So praise God for that!

Our students on campus need Jesus still, both the ones that have heard of him and the ones who haven't. Denton can be a place full of a lot of the worst parts of our culture, so please join me in praying for these students we will be ministering to this semester. Pray that we would be faithful to teach the gospel and love people as we meet them and invite them into God's family.

Thank you for being such a constant place of support and prayer. I am so thankful for you.

Ryan, Nicole and Jude.

What Will be Happening this Fall?

Hello all, We're two weeks out from what is typically our craziest week of the school year: fall semester welcome week. This is when campuses usually throw big events to welcome the incoming freshman, and welcome back students who have gone away for the summer. Obviously, this is prime time for a ministry to be on campus to be visible and engaging with the new students. So many of the people we have throughout the year come from us meeting them during welcome week. This year, things are going to look different. So as you support campus ministry faithfully, let me tell you what we're going to be doing this year to still be faithful on our end to minister to college students. Outreach: Reaching out and meeting new students is a vital part of our ministry, and because of COVID, the way in which we do that is going to have to look different. Not all of the students that normally attend classes are going to be in person on campus, so we can't expect to rely on holding in person ...

An Amazing Start

Hey all, Here to update you on the first few weeks of Denton FOCUS. It's been a whirlwind, we had two weeks of doing events on campus, lunches with new students, tabling and giveaways, big night events outside on campus playing capture the flag or lawn games. The 6 foot beach ball made multiple appearances :). It's been a really awesome start to the year, and so far the students have been responding really positively. By and large it feels like the ones we are meeting are interested in engaging, many of them wanting to get involved and even the ones who aren't are less hostile than some of our previous years, so that's something we are praising God for!  Our second TNF, last night. We got a bigger room thank goodness, our first week in a slightly smaller room had people lined up along the walls! Our first two Thursday Night Fellowships have seen a bit under 300 students show up, which is awesome! (Fo context, last year our biggest Thursday night was in the low 200'...

Checking In

Hey all, Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were wonderful, and that you're enjoying the post Christmas stretch. Nicole and the kids and I had a great time visiting San Antonio to see my family, and spending it with family and friends up here in the DFW area.  The ministry has been doing really well. The semester ended with a big frenzy of Christmas party, listening to our apprentices give their sermons for the ned of the semester, and a bunch of meetings and 1-1s before everyone left for the break. I'm excited to be back at work today, we're looking ahead to winter camp, which is only a couple of weeks away.  Prayer requests: - Our staff keeps getting sick! In some ways this is the theme of this time of year for people, but we would love some time with some healed bodies and protection from those pesky viruses that go around so we can continue to do what we need to do.  - Winter Retreat. Jan 17-20th. If you could, set a reminder to pray for that time. We are doin...
