Welcome to 2025/2026!

Incoming Photo Collage from our 3 week outreach intensive. We made it through another start to the year!! By God's grace haha. It's always a wild, exhausting but rewarding part of this role.

Here's a little bit of the payoff:

If for any reason it won't load, its a video of over 300 college students gathered in a classroom on campus at UNT for our first Thursday Night Fellowship of the year! They're practically shouting their devotion to Jesus! This is awesome stuff, and we're so thankful we get to stay on campus where the students are for our worship and preaching time. Many of the students won't leave campus until they feel more settled, so we've always felt that we can do the most by doing as much as we can on the campus!

We're continuing our sermon series on the gospel of Mark, these first two weeks have been covering the call to carry your cross and the story of the Transfiguration. I got to tackle preaching over the Transfiguration passage and it was a joy to prep. I read a book called "The Transfiguration of Christ: An Exegetical and Theological Reading" by Patrick Schreiner and I really recommend it. If you're like me, this is not a gospel story that I hear get a lot of coverage in the teaching of churches I have been a part of. I'm now more convinced than ever that it's an incredibly meaningful and pivotal story for us to ponder. Here's a quote from the book that I wanted to share.

“The principle of transfiguration says nothing, no one and no situation, is ‘untransfigurable,’ that the whole of creation, nature, waits expectantly for its transfiguration, when it will be released from its bondage and share in the glorious liberty of the children of God, when it will not be just dry inert matter but will be translucent with divine glory.”8 When the Lord returns, we will wear a crown of righteousness (2 Tim. 4:8). The shining mountain is not only an event to study; it transfigures us as we behold the glorious Son and wait for his return.

Here's the last few weeks in pictures:

We start welcome week by gathering all of our student leaders from UNT together Monday morning for a training and prayer time. This room is just our student leaders at UNT. We have a huge team this year! All of these students are dedicating so much time each week to help us meet people and study the Ible witht them and show them Jesus.

One of the night time events we did was a worship night on the lawn outside a dorm. So many people walked by and stopped! We're thankful to be at a University where we are allowed to worship on the campus out in public.

At the end of the first week, we take our corefas to a camp SE of here to recoup, get ready for week 2, and celebrate what God has done so far.

Worship together the night of our student leader retreat.
We've had a couple of baptisms to start the year off!!

Jude got a taste of the local fair and Rodeo last week and loved it!

Thank you for your support and prayers. Please pray for our continued outreach efforts, taht we can expand our reach. We have such a big campus and want to reach as many people as possible!

What Will be Happening this Fall?

Hello all, We're two weeks out from what is typically our craziest week of the school year: fall semester welcome week. This is when campuses usually throw big events to welcome the incoming freshman, and welcome back students who have gone away for the summer. Obviously, this is prime time for a ministry to be on campus to be visible and engaging with the new students. So many of the people we have throughout the year come from us meeting them during welcome week. This year, things are going to look different. So as you support campus ministry faithfully, let me tell you what we're going to be doing this year to still be faithful on our end to minister to college students. Outreach: Reaching out and meeting new students is a vital part of our ministry, and because of COVID, the way in which we do that is going to have to look different. Not all of the students that normally attend classes are going to be in person on campus, so we can't expect to rely on holding in person ...

An Amazing Start

Hey all, Here to update you on the first few weeks of Denton FOCUS. It's been a whirlwind, we had two weeks of doing events on campus, lunches with new students, tabling and giveaways, big night events outside on campus playing capture the flag or lawn games. The 6 foot beach ball made multiple appearances :). It's been a really awesome start to the year, and so far the students have been responding really positively. By and large it feels like the ones we are meeting are interested in engaging, many of them wanting to get involved and even the ones who aren't are less hostile than some of our previous years, so that's something we are praising God for!  Our second TNF, last night. We got a bigger room thank goodness, our first week in a slightly smaller room had people lined up along the walls! Our first two Thursday Night Fellowships have seen a bit under 300 students show up, which is awesome! (Fo context, last year our biggest Thursday night was in the low 200'...

Checking In

Hey all, Happy New Year! I hope your holidays were wonderful, and that you're enjoying the post Christmas stretch. Nicole and the kids and I had a great time visiting San Antonio to see my family, and spending it with family and friends up here in the DFW area.  The ministry has been doing really well. The semester ended with a big frenzy of Christmas party, listening to our apprentices give their sermons for the ned of the semester, and a bunch of meetings and 1-1s before everyone left for the break. I'm excited to be back at work today, we're looking ahead to winter camp, which is only a couple of weeks away.  Prayer requests: - Our staff keeps getting sick! In some ways this is the theme of this time of year for people, but we would love some time with some healed bodies and protection from those pesky viruses that go around so we can continue to do what we need to do.  - Winter Retreat. Jan 17-20th. If you could, set a reminder to pray for that time. We are doin...
